Laboratorio transfrontaliero ecosostenibile tra il settore creativo e il mondo economico-produttivo

Innovating Green Cinema

The object is to create a new strategic approach of “capacity building” where businesses of the economic-productive sector can connect with the creative and cultural sector promoting young start-ups and supporting talents. Cross-border Film School association and its partners, with experienced professionals of the cinematographic and audiovisual sectors for over 20 years, is aiming to address this project to manufacturing and artistic businesses of the areas described in the programming of Bid Book Go! 2025 for Gorizia and Nova Gorica.

The intention is to establish a sustainable cross-border laboratory oriented towards the strategic programming aimed of creating a single one Transborder European City. This is related to the provisions of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region to support Go! 2025 Nova Gorica and Gorizia as the European Capital of Culture, and in line with the PNRR in terms of innovation, environmental sustainability, sustainable development, and inclusivity.

The “Innovating Green Cinema” project stems from the synergies initiated with the numerous cinema-related entities in the area and the outcomes of the “Manifesto dell’Economia del Cinema del FVG” – created by the Cross-Border Film School association as part of the Sistema Cinema – Training and Empowerment project in FVG (“Ripartenza Cultura&Sport” FVG Grant). The Manifesto highlights how the transborder cinematographic and audiovisual system is considered the strength of the Italy/Slovenia area, given the central position of Friuli Venezia Giulia in European geography and the need for networking through the implementation of long-term joint initiatives.

And all of this also thanks to the productive work and presence of FVG Film Commission and Fondo per l’Audiovisivo del FVG, which support the attraction of film and television productions to the area, promoting employment and the development of the tourism economy. The production of a film can significantly impact one or more environmentally sensitive objectives, such as energy, transportation, waste management, and food and resource waste.

To ensure that the film industry adopts sustainable solutions in line with the goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050, it is necessary to develop specific skills in every department. It is expected to be a significant increase in demand for sustainable production solutions in the coming years, including from major international productions choosing our region as their set location. Providing local skilled workers and services enhances the competitiveness of our territories. Building around these considerations and the increasingly prioritized theme of environmental sustainability, the aim is to create a project focused on networking creative and productive businesses in the film sector. This would establish a stable network with “Green” skills towards the transition to a zero-emission world through the implementation of best practices and synergies.

The primary goal is to create a sustainable scenario for our territory by providing all the possible choices to reduce the environmental impact of a film set and, in general, the cinema industry. This involves fostering collaboration among various film production companies existing in the cross-border Italian-Slovenian territory.
