“ A crisis can be a real blessing to any person, to any nation. For all crises bring progress. „
The history of cinematography has gone through many phases and cycles, and it teaches us that crisis lead up to development and growth. In Gorizia, during the pandemic, professionals and workers coming from cinematography and culture, directors and authors, started a conversation about the possibility for the movie sector of a tangible restart and of creating real job opportunities. They also emphasized the need for the creation of a network of human/economic resources in preparation for the relaunch of the cinematic culture starting from Gorizia, which is the European Capital of Culture 2025 together with Nova Gorica.
This is a unique opportunity to think and share a new Idea of Cinema for the entire regional territory. This collaboration is called Sistema Cinema and it materializes into an Author’s Policy, which merges in the Cross-border Film School based in Gorizia.
Its services and initiatives will be directed not only to the regional territory; it will create a network of movie professionals; it will train new industry workers. Everything in order to promote job placement and the creation of start-ups in line with the PNRR plan and the recovery fund.
Sistema Cinema aims to assist professionals in refining their skills and to create new roles necessary for the regional film sector, which often relies on qualified personnel from outside the region.
Our analysis has highlighted a shortage of specific professional roles that we are going to restore in the region: assistant directors, production assistants, movie actors.
This project will create a place of research and innovation for cinematography, and it will be sustainable in terms of space and expertise. Private entities will offer a professional and organic training, organized in modules of cinematographic disciplines.
The ultimate goal is to create a network within the sector, integrated with other sporting and cultural entities in the region, in order to support the regional recovery of the industry.
It is important to highlight that the Sistema Cinema project was made possible thanks to the fundamental contribution provided by the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which supported it through the “Ripartenza Cultura&Sport” grant. Along with the efforts of all partners and collaborators who will implement one or more parts of the project.
