Ivan Gergolet
Born in 1977, he started filming short documentaries and short movies while attending the cinematographic curriculum at DAMS in Bologna. He was one of the media-activists at Orfeo TV in 2002, which was the first Italian “street television”. He started his professional experience in 2006 working as production assistant, assistant director and production manager for several movie projects.
His debut feature film, Dancing with Maria, was the first documentary ever selected during the International Critics' Week at the 71st Venice Film Festival in 2014, where it won the Civitas Vitae Award, and it was later nominated for Best European Documentary at the European Film Awards in 2015. He created the VR project In the Cave as part of the Biennale College Cinema VR in Venice in 2018.
His first fiction feature film, The Man Without Guilt, produced by Staragara, Transmedia Production and Propeler Film, was released in 2022. The movie won the Ettore Scola Award for Best Director, the Best Director Award at the Slovenian Film Festival, the Youth Award and the Best Actress Award at the Gallio Film Festival.
