Erica Barbiani
Erica Barbiani is a film producer, author, story-editor.
After her doctorate in sociology she founded Videomante in 2004, a production company dedicated to making documentaries for the international audiovisual market. Among the documentaries produced there are "The Special Need" by Carlo Zoratti, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, winner at SXSW in Austin, Doc Leipzig, Zagreb DOX and selected at more than sixty international festivals; "The Good Life," the first directorial effort by writer Niccolò Ammaniti, distributed by Feltrinelli; and, with Lucia Candelpergher, "La Villa," by Claudia Brignone, made in co-production with RAI Cinema and premiered at the Rome Film Festival. Current productions include "Wishing on a star," a documentary by Slovak director Peter Kerekes of which Erica is co-author, made in co-production with Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia and Taiwan, and "Fiume o Morte!", a documentary by Croatian director Igor Bezinović in co-production with Croatia and Slovenia. Erica collaborates with Torino Film Lab as a pre-selectionist for the ScriptLab program and she is one of First Cut Lab's editorial advisors.
